With the 75th anniversary of Gone With the Wind right around the corner, you may notice a lot of programs around town and on television about Georgia’s beloved local legend. Tonight, Georgia Public Broadcasting will air the world premiere of their biography documentary Margaret Mitchell: American Rebel. I borrowed a copy of the DVD from our editor here at Peachtree a week ago — it was so good that I’m tuning in to watch it again!
The documentary features our very own Marianne Walker, author of Margaret Mitchell and John Marsh: The Love Story Behind Gone With the Wind. It airs tonight, Thursday, June 30, at 8 p.m. on GPB! They did a great job of it, so you all should definitely watch with me! After all, Rhett said it himself: “Take a good look my dear. It’s an historic moment you can tell your grandchildren about.”
If you don’t live in Georgia or you don’t have a television, keep an eye on the GPB website for great info about Mitchell and snippets of the film. You can still enter the contest too, of course.
We had a lot of great conversations on Twitter tonight – thanks everyone! The contest is still open until next week! Happy long weekend!
Mitchell died when she was hit by a car on Peachtree Street in 1949. Yikes!
That surprised me too! So sad.
