When you think of us, one of the first things we hope you think of is beautiful art. This season, we’re highlighting out-of-this-world photography, debut author-illustrators, and illustrators you already know and love. So please enjoy this small glimpse of some of our favorite upcoming works.
Beatrice Bly’s Rules for Spies: The Missing Hamster (April 2021)
A young spy in training has to put her sneaky skills to the test when the class pet goes missing in this picture book series starter by Sue Fliess and Beth Mills that will win over young sleuths, teaching them problem solving and deduction skills as they scramble to figure out the case alongside super spy Beatrice Bly!
Bright Star (September 2021)
From Caldecott Honoree and six-time Pura Belpré Award Medalist Yuyi Morales, the creator of the New York Times bestseller Dreamers, comes a heartbreakingly beautiful story about growth, empowerment, and finding one’s own voice. Bright Star will also available this fall in a Spanish language edition, Lucero.
A Shelter for Sadness (September 2021)
With A Shelter for Sadness, Anne Booth brings us a gentle story, personifying sadness and showing the power of giving it the space to just be; David Litchfield’s illustrations powerfully bring the beautiful concept to life with a manifestation of sadness that the young boy protagonist interacts with throughout the story.
Watercress (March 2021)
Gathering watercress by the side of the road brings a girl closer to her family’s Chinese Heritage in this new book by Andrea Wang who tells a moving autobiographical story of a child of immigrants discovering and connecting with her heritage.
