Frogs and toads and salamanders – oh my! A first look at amphibians from the creators of the award-winning About… and About Habitats series.

“A very fine easy-reading introduction to amphibians that will be savored by young viewers and teachers.” ―Kirkus Reviews

In this addition to the acclaimed About… series, former educator and author Cathryn Sill uses simple, easy-to-understand language to teach children what amphibians are, how they look, how they move, what they eat, and where they live.

With beautifully detailed, realistic paintings, noted wildlife illustrator John Sill introduces readers to a variety of amphibians, from frogs and toads to salamanders and more. An afterword provides further details.

About Amphibians is part of the award-winning About… series. Ideal for casual exploration as well as for early childhood and elementary science units on animal life.

“Breathtaking…. This is a very fine easy-reading introduction to amphibians that will be savored by young viewers and teachers.” ―Kirkus Reviews

“As well suited to young children as its predecessors…. The attractive, dignified portraits of the animals in their habitats and the straightforward, informative approach of the text make the book an attractive resource for primary-grade students, yet still simple enough for much younger children to enjoy…. A useful addition to a solid science series.” ―Booklist

“This is an outstanding book…. The text is easy to read and, at the same time, informative. The outstanding illustrations are in brilliant color.” ―Science Books & Films
