Stanley’s School

Everyone’s favorite hardworking hamster is back, and this time he’s a teacher! Stanley’s School sees the return of the beloved cast of familiar characters (along with some new friends) for William Bee’s seventh title in the fun-filled picture book series.

Readers will love the vibrant colors, dynamic illustrations, and engaging story as Stanley and the class explore everyday activities at school. Stanley and Hattie have a busy day planned for Little Woo, Sophie, and Benjamin as they enjoy story time, painting, and playing pretend. Young readers will likely recognize some of their own favorite preschool classroom activities. From the moment Hattie rings the morning bell until the students head home on the blue school bus, Stanley’s School highlights the true excitement and fun of learning. Fans of Stanley will also be familiar with his regular nighttime routine of supper, bath, and bed, and get to continue saying “Goodnight” to their favorite hamster.

“Order, balance, and contentment seem fundamental to the charm of the amiable series for young children…. A pleasing addition to this popular series.” —Booklist

“Stanley the hamster welcomes a cast of preschool rodents to his school as they enjoy a day of fun and learning together…. Bee isn’t afraid to break gender stereotypes… Fans of the gentle hamster will want to know: What occupation will Stanley tackle next?” —Kirkus Reviews

If you’ve ever received a package in the mail or sent a letter to a loved one, today is an important day to recognize! Every year on February 4th, we celebrate Thank a Mailman Day: a day to recognize and thank the workers who deliver important mail and packages day after day, through rain or shine, for six days a week. Here at Peachtree we love sending and receiving mail–especially if there are books involved–and we appreciate the wonderful people who deliver all our mail every day!

This year on Thank a Mailman Day, we have a very special mailman to recognize. Stanley is back and delivering mail to all of his friends in Stanley the Mailman!

Stanley gets up early to sort through the mail in his post office. Then he sets off through to town to deliver it all. Myrtle, Little Woo, and Charlie all receive exciting gifts and letters. But will everyone be happy with what’s in Stanley’s mailbag?

Author-illustrator William Bee brings us another wonderful little story with our favorite hamster Stanley. Stanley the Mailman is coming March 1st, and we can’t wait for everyone to share another day of fun and discovery with Stanley!

When Myrtle buys a plot of land, she asks Stanley to build her a new house. He works step by step—from clearing the site with a bulldozer, to pouring the foundation, to painting the finished house in Myrtle’s favorite colors. Luckily, Charlie helps out too. Building houses is hard work, but all three friends are happy with a job well done.

Kirkus Reviews comments, “Stanley and his fellow rodents are adorable, their dot eyes and line mouths expressing emotion, though without much nuance. Nonetheless, little listeners are sure to come back to Stanley over and over, as he explores jobs and uses equipment sure to pique their interest.” We hope you like Stanley, too!
