Internships at Peachtree Publishing Company Inc.
The Peachtree Internship Program offers an in-depth, behind-the-scenes experience in children’s publishing. Our interns work within a team-oriented environment and alongside publishing professionals in either the editorial or publicity & marketing department.
Our friendly work atmosphere facilitates exciting opportunities to garner knowledge from experienced professionals across multiple departments. Interns will attend staff meetings, mock acquisition discussions, and lunch and learns and are welcome participants in the publishing process.
Peachtree’s internships are unpaid positions and require a commitment of 10 – 15 hours per week for a term of 10 – 12 weeks.

Fall Term: September – December
Spring Term: January – April

Interns are selected based on interest, experience, and academic coursework, but should also:
- Be at least junior or senior level college students. Graduate students and recent college graduates are welcome to apply.
- Demonstrate motivation and a willingness to learn.
- Have an active interest in children’s literature and book publishing.

Editorial Internship
Peachtree’s editorial department acquires and develops Peachtree’s titles. Interns will assist in the execution of daily department tasks while simultaneously learning about the editorial process from beginning to end. An editorial intern’s responsibilities include the following:
- Evaluating and processing unsolicited manuscripts and acquisition candidates
- Writing reader’s reports
- Assisting in copy editing and proofing
- Assisting in editorial research
- Assisting with special projects
- Assisting other departments as needed.
Interns must have a strong background in literature. They should also be detail-oriented, strong writers, able to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once, and interested in pursuing a career in book publishing or a related industry. An interest in contemporary children’s and/or YA literature is preferred.

Publicity & Marketing Internship
The publicity department promotes our titles and authors through print, online media, and special events. A publicity & marketing intern’s responsibilities include the following:
- Developing media lists, press materials, and themed pitches.
- Responding to media inquiries by sending review copies.
- Assisting in press mailings.
- Developing content for blog posts and social media campaigns.
- Assisting with special projects.
- Assisting other departments as needed.
Interns should be strong writers, creative thinkers, and interested in pursuing a career in publishing or a related industry. A background in Public Relations, English, or related field and an interest in children’s and/or YA books is preferred. Graphic design skill is a plus.
