Harriet's Horrible Hair Day

One day an unruly curl pops out of Harriet's nice neat braid--a wriggly, wavy, horrible curl. "It looks weird," taunts her brother.

WHEN HARRIET'S SISTER offers to fix the rebellious curl, the three of them launch into a series of outrageous, hair-raising schemes to tame Harriet's wayward ringlet. Despite their best efforts, though, two... three... four... and still more curls break loose. Soon the yard and the house are a wreck, poor Harriet is exhausted, and her head is covered in curls.

Dawn Stewart's rollicking, boisterous tale, vividly brought to life by Michael White's brilliant and quirky illustrations, will entertain young readers while helping them to see that the root of our problems is sometimes all in the way we look at them.

Reviews

"...the elaborate, messy, and absurd attempts at repair are entertaining, as is the dialogue of the sibs (who are clearly enjoying their experimentation) as they put Harriet through their tender ministrations.... [The artwork] has an electric energy that will appeal to viewers. The anthropomorphized dog and cat cavort divertingly through the proceedings; though the siblings appear not to notice them, kids in the audience will get a kick out of their antics. If you're looking to take the knots out of a bad hair day, try this."
